“Le dernier homme” — Johann Rivat

Text of Marc Desgrandchamps, translated by Sira Luthardt. Bilingual French-German.

Since Picturodrome, published in 2013, Johann Rivat has expanded his work of a hundred large formats and painted graphic design which we wanted to restore the visual strength in this book in generous format..

The painter invites us to see the deliquescence of the individual through the revolting scenes of the present, and allows the reader to give life and meaning to painted sets of another time or another world.

The cover pages were the subject of work by the artist during the printing of the book. Johann Rivat created an original drawing by intervening directly on the offset plates, thus renewing, by means of an economic process, with the idea of the beautiful book of artist and his lithographed cover.

Johann Rivat was born in 1981, he lives and works in Grenoble. He made his studies at the Fine arts school of Lyon, then of Grenoble, like at the Art department of the university of Shanghaï. His work is regularly exposed in France and abroad.
